The class is a practical workshop which will give you a brief history of corsetry and corset styles from Elizabethan to Edwardian. You will cut and construct a corset in Victorian style following traditional construction methods.
You will learn about the fabrics and tools appropriate for corset making, the various bones and steels used (depending on the period/style), production techniques (including boning, eyelets, binding and lacing).
Throughout the classes each production process will be illustrated and demonstrated with samples.
The class is intensive and hard work but I hope you will find it interesting, productive and fun.
There will be reference material, books and example corsets (period and modern) available throughout the workshops.
